At the St. Louis location of a global specialty chemical manufacturer, switchgear equipment played a vital role in daily operations. However, the equipment needed protection from extreme heat and exposure in an active industrial environment. The client required a fast, effective way to house the gear in a temperature-controlled, low-maintenance enclosure, also without halting production.
Henges Commercial Contracting, the interiors division of Jay Henges Enterprises, partnered with Porta-King to design and build a fully enclosed modular room to house the switchgear. The 10' x 20' x 10' structure was constructed using Porta-King's modular building system, chosen for its speed of installation and durability in industrial settings.
The exterior featured a painted steel surface for enhanced durability, while the interior walls were finished with smooth fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP)—a material selected for its easy-clean surface and exceptional resistance to moisture, impact, and corrosion. Both surfaces were laminated to a solid insulating core to deliver thermal protection essential for sensitive electrical equipment.
With minimal disruption to manufacturing operations, Henges Commercial Contracting delivered a high-performance modular enclosure that checked every box: durable, insulated, and easy to maintain. The new structure provides a secure environment for critical electrical systems while supporting the client’s ongoing efficiency and reliability goals.
